How to learn trading in stock market? Self-learning vs learning from professional

I have come across many people asking me why should they pay fees when lot of content is available online for free. This prompted me to write my first blog and try to give my perspective of self-learning vs professional learning.

Now imagine of yourself aspiring to become a Doctor and decides to learn online from Google and YouTube, yes it’s possible. Do you think you will be successful? would anyone ever visit you for treatment or consultancy?

Same applies to all professions like Lawyer, CA, Technician, Engineer to name a few.

Has a thought came to your mind “Why do we need to send our kids to school and college when all they learn is available on online platforms?” We send our kids to school and pay for their fees (even if the parent has to compromise on their happiness) because we trust teachers who are professional in teaching various subjects and we treat fees as an investment for bright future of our kids.

Similarly, friends, trading in the stock market is also a profession and anyone who wants to trade in a stock market should learn from a professional. It is fine to do some background homework by learning online but should never trade without learning from the professional. Treat fees as an investment for your bright fortune.

Let’s compare Self-Learning vs Professional Learning

  • Information: Professional trainer will always provide you in-depth knowledge of the subject as he is deemed to be expert in his area. How does Self-learner decide what he has learned himself is in-depth and complete information?
  • Theory vs Practical: Professional trainer will teach you both theory and practical aspects with learning whereas self-learning would primarily be theory knowledge and you can’t put money on table by learning just lifetime knowledge. Professional trainers give you practice homework and correct your understanding to build your confidence.
  • Questions/Support: Professional trainer is always available to answer your question and provide you support even after completion of course. This helps to correct your mistakes early in your trading career. Where does self-learner go to get answers to question and support?
  • Time: Professional training is usually 8-10 days spanning across a couple of months, so you get ready to trade in a couple of months and start making money in right way. Self-learning can be the as you can read material faster but need to identify a right strategy, perform trial and error which requires good amount time and money.
  • Cost: Professional trainers will charge you upfront fee to expedite your learning process, so you pay one-time fee for life time earnings. Self-learner will learn online for Free but have to pay cost multiple times for their trial and error to come up with right strategy and risking their capital to erode completely. We have seen people are happy to take a loss in trading but not ready to pay fees to learn how to trade.

Let me take you to your childhood, does anyone remember what we used to call a small child who didn’t know how to play but still wanted to play with big kids? Any guess? Yes, you got it right “KACHHA LIMBU”. Trading without right training is being “KACHHA LIMBU” in front of those professional traders and BIG players like FIIs, DIIs, MFs, etc.

I strongly recommend people not to trade in stock market if they are not willing to invest in learning how to trade professionally because I do care of your precious hard-earned money and can’t see it wiping off so easily.

DON’T BE KACHHA LIMBU and BECOME PROFESSIONAL TRADER BY LEARNING FROM PROFESSIONALS.

There is no right or wrong answer, It’s individual perception and choice whether to continue self-learning or learn from professional.
